Restricting Diets
Why we need to focus on more…not less!
Here are the restrictions for a keto diet:
No fruit.
No pasta.
No potatoes.
No rice.
No beer.
No bread.
No chocolate.
No cakes.
No sweets.
No fruit juice.
Now while I’m sure we can agree, many of these aren’t the healthiest foods on the planet 😉
If I say you can’t eat any of them for the next few months, what’s the first thing you want to eat?
For me?
Chocolate.
Hands down.
But you should know me well enough by now to have guessed that.
And this, in a nutshell, is why diets don’t work.
NOT because there is anything wrong with you.
Because you are weak-willed.
Because you lack will-power.
But because they are created around a requirement to deny yourself the foods that you love!
The only way you’re going to find a diet for life (and by ‘diet’ here, I mean foods that you regularly eat) is by not removing foods that you enjoy.
Unless there’s a good health reason (allergies etc) for you to cut something out, most things are just fine…in moderation.
And when we focus on adding in MORE of the healthy foods into our diet, the foods that aren’t so great for us naturally start to feature less and less.
The problem with this of course, is that results don’t come overnight.
You don’t lose ½ a stone in your first week.
And a lot of people want to lose weight at least 10 times quicker than they gained it!
But for the ones who are willing to be patient and wait for their results are rewarded.
With the confidence that they’ll never re-gain that weight and have to lose it all over again.
So next time you’re tempted to do ANY kind of restrictive dieting.
Ask yourself how well that’s worked for you in the past.
The honest truth is it hasn’t.
Because if it had, you wouldn’t need to lose any weight, so you wouldn’t be about to start another diet.
Think long-term.
Think about adding in MORE of the good stuff.
MORE protein.
MORE veg.
MORE healthy fats.
Think more, more, MORE.
Not less, less….NONE
